Formalities

When someone is older than me or an acquaintance, I should use the formal version of the subject. Vise versa for in-formalities. Now, what if my close friend is older than me? Or if I'm older than my acquaintance? I would guess that age isn't accounted for in those cases, but better to be safe than sorry.

If it's a close friend, I guess it's ok if you don't use the formal version.
